Fettling Process In casting cleaning, risers are removed with cutting grinds or torches, then edges and burrs are smoothed by grinding. A final blast process removes grinding marks for a uniform surface. The blasting uses ferritic or austenitic grains, chosen based on the casting’s hardness, shape, and system parameters.
